Hello friends,
Lately I’ve been lucky to spot some new restaurants around town—and even luckier that they’ve actually been good. So I figured, why keep the joy to myself? This time it’s a Hong Kong fusion spot with dim sum and more. You know I couldn’t resist.
Red Junk - Hong Kong Fusion

Red Junk is a new spot that puts a fresh spin on classic Hong Kong flavors. The kitchen is led by a Hong Kong chef and a skilled team who know exactly what they’re doing. Whether it's wok-fried dishes that bring the heat, crispy roast meats, bouncy handmade noodles or steamed dim sum straight from the basket.
What makes Red Junk stand out is they use top-quality ingredients, traditional recipes, and mix in a bit of European-inspired sauce magic to keep things interesting. It’s that kind of East-meets-West twist that gives each dish a bit of flair without losing its roots.
If you’re into food that feels both familiar and new, this place is worth checking out.
What I ordered
Dim sum is usually a breakfast or brunch thing, but I was hungry, wandering the mall and spotted this good-looking restaurant with steam coming out of bamboo baskets. Obviously, I went in.
1. Steam Prawn Dumplings
Starting with a classic. These dumplings looked thick at first but were actually thin and easy to bite through. The shrimp inside was big and fresh — happy start!

2. Pan-seared Scallops with Salad
I saw scallops and didn’t even pretend to think twice. These were soft, fresh, and had that lovely seared flavor. The salad came along for the ride, but honestly, I was too focused on the scallops and it was perfect itself.

3. Fried Beef Bun with Black Pepper
If you like the steamed version, give this a go. It's not deep-fried, just lightly crispy on top and bottom while the bun stays soft. The filling? Juicy minced beef, black pepper sauce and a bit of onion. Super flavorful.

4. Prawn Siu Mai
A must-order for me, this was my childhood favorite and still is. There was a little twist with shrimp roe on top for extra flavor. But there was also a strong taste I couldn’t quite place. Might be an intentional ingredient, might just not be my thing. You’ll have to judge it yourself.

5. Xiao Long Bao
I usually skip this because I’m not big on ginger, but this one had just a hint, soft enough for me to enjoy. The soup inside was hot and tasty, so be careful with that first bite unless you want a mouthful of lava. Don’t forget to add some chili oil and vinegar.
They also have prawn xiao long bao. I’m saving that for next time.

6. Bean Curd Skin Rolls with Vegetables
As a Vietnamese, I need something green on the table. They didn’t have stir-fried green beans, but I was up for trying something new. This had broccoli, mushrooms and carrots wrapped in tofu skin. A bit under-seasoned, but a splash of soy sauce fixed that.

7. Premium Prawn Dumplings
Yes, there’s a premium menu. Yes, we were curious. These dumplings had crunchy prawn inside (like crystal shrimp texture as they’d call) and felt different from the standard prawn dumplings. Worth the upgrade.
Ambience & Service
Ambience
The restaurant has a view over to Bình Thạnh and District 1, and we happened to catch the sunset while eating. Not too bad, huh? Big tables, comfy chairs, and a spacious setup that looks like it could host 100–150 people. Hong Kong vibes done right.

Service
The staff is well dressed with their uniform, everyone has walkie-talkie to communicate internal to ensure all the orders and fulfill the customers' needs effectively.

Would I go back?
100% yes! Very happy to have a dimsum restaurant near home.
The food was good, service was easygoing and the space is big enough for a group hang. Bring your friends, your family, or that one friend who always wants “something different but not too different.”
